This is the first in a series of podcasts on career skills. These are skills to help you personally and practically in the workplace.

This series was inspired when a friend revealed to Naomi that she had just negotiated a sizeable pay rise. This came after discovering that, as the only female in her team, she was being paid significantly less than her male counterparts. The discussion focusses on the HOW of it all – how she prepared, how the meeting went and how she drove a successful outcome. So we’re talking about money, and about NEGOTIATION.

During this episode we discuss the 4 P’s of negotiating: preparation, practice, positivity and persistence. These are some of the things you need to consider. Plus, how to break down the process into manageable chunks to make it a little more bearable, because whatever anyone may say, most of us will find a negotiation quite a stressful experience.
