To mark International Women’s Day on Saturday 8th March 2025, we have brought together the second collection of ‘Champions for Change’ profiles into a free, downloadable eBook featuring exclusive stories of inspirational people who are making a difference and creating positive change for women in the veterinary sector.

International Women’s Day 2025 aims to “Accelerate Action,” urging swift and decisive steps toward achieving gender equality. The World Economic Forum reports that, at the current rate of progress, gender parity won’t be reached until 2158. This is a timely call for increased momentum and urgency in addressing the systemic barriers and biases that women face, both in personal and professional spheres.

Veterinary Woman’s Champions for Change profiles spotlight some of the incredible work happening right now. From Sanam Peighambarzadeh, who is shaping the next generation of women in veterinary medicine in Iran, to Georgina Parsons, co-founder of the National Union of Registered Veterinary Nurses, and Lharanya Somasundaram, President of Animal Aspirations—a student initiative designed to engage individuals from diverse backgrounds.

We highlight how individuals are engaged in pursing significant change: overcoming restrictions on women’s education, helping business owners push past obstacles to do with their sex, race, beliefs or circumstances, addressing cultural stigmas to advance veterinary education and breaking gender barriers in leadership.

We hope these stories of dedication and progress within the veterinary sector help inspire other actions towards improving wellbeing, career prospects, equality, and inclusivity for all.
