To mark International Women’s Day on Friday 8th March 2024, we have brought together a collection of ‘Champions for Change’ profiles into a free, downloadable eBook featuring exclusive stories of inspirational people who are making a difference and creating positive change for women in the veterinary sector.
International Women’s Day 2024 aims to ‘Inspire Inclusion’, bring a sense of belonging, relevance and empowerment and collectively forge a more inclusive world for women. Areas in the veterinary profession where actions can be taken to #InspireInclusion include recruiting, retaining and developing female talent, building women’s economic empowerment, supporting women into leadership, decision-making and business, and creating infrastructure that meets the needs of women.
Veterinary Woman’s Champions for Change profiles highlight some of the ways this is happening right now in practice and beyond. From Dr Katrin Jahn, who is paving the way for female veterinary professionals in the Middle East, to Perdi Welsh, who is working to enhance career progression options for veterinary nurses and Samantha Lympany-Tier who is advocating for the role of veterinary care assistants; individuals and their organisations are taking the initiative to push the boundaries.
We also share the stories of how vet professionals are drawing on their own experiences and entrepreneurial skills to coach others to improve confidence and wellbeing; and of those who are taking the opportunity to use their roles in industry to address challenges, promote diversity and drive positive change.
We hope that you will find inspiration from the stories of the amazing efforts taking place within the veterinary sector to drive new thinking and improvements to wellbeing, career prospects, equality and inclusivity.
