SPVS GP Mastery

SPVS have announced that places are now open for the next GP Mastery course, launching 15th – 16th October 2025. The deadline to sign up is the 14th of October.

The development programme has been designed to tackle the non-clinical challenges faced by vets in general practice, many of which remain underrepresented in traditional CPD.

The course is ideal for vets in the first third of their careers, those returning to clinical work, or anyone seeking renewed confidence. It focuses on the real-world skills that underpin success in practice: time management, decision making under pressure, communication, managing imposter syndrome, and preventing burnout.

Course Highlights

  • A two-day in-person launch: 15–16 October 2025, Solihull
  • Monthly online group sessions through to July 2026
  • Blended delivery: in-person, virtual, and self-paced learning
  • Small group format (maximum 15 delegates) to encourage discussion and peer learning

Key topics include:

  • Managing consult-room time effectively
  • Strategies to combat imposter syndrome
  • Building a supportive culture and asking for help
  • Communicating clearly with clients and colleagues, especially under pressure
  • Making confident decisions in uncertain situations
  • Recognising and preventing early burnout

Delivered through the SPVS Thriving in Practice hub, the course has a practical focus and inclusive approach.

With a growing focus on retention, wellbeing, and sustainable careers in veterinary medicine, the SPVS GP Mastery course offers a timely and much-needed resource for individuals and practices alike.
