UK Pet Food launches online course in partnership with The Webinar Vet

UK Pet Food is proud to announce the launch of the Pet Food & Nutrition Course for Veterinary Professionals, developed by the association and hosted in collaboration with The Webinar Vet. Running from 6 October to 4 December 2025, this comprehensive online CPD course is tailored specifically for veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses, offering trusted, practical pet nutrition education.

With pet owners increasingly turning to their vets for nutrition guidance—amid a flood of online opinions and pet food trends—this course is designed to equip veterinary teams with the knowledge and confidence to offer clear, evidence-based advice.

Course Highlights:

  • 20 hours of CPD
  • On-demand modules plus live Q&A sessions
  • Independent speakers and chairs from leading academics, veterinary nutritionists, and industry experts, including Marge Chandler, Alex German, Professor Anna Meredith and Liz Mullineux

By the end of the course, participants can expect to:

Understand the fundamental principles of pet nutrition, including nutrient requirements across life stages and species.

Navigate the legal and safety landscape of pet food production, including animal by-products, feed additives and relevant regulations.

Evaluate pet food types and manufacturing processes to confidently address client questions and concerns.

Apply practical strategies for addressing clinical issues such as supporting specific health conditions through nutrition (special care vs dietetics) and management of pet obesity.

Interpret pet food labels, claims and marketing communications in line with legal frameworks and industry guidelines.

Promote sustainable and ethical feeding choices by understanding well-established vs emerging ingredients, environmental impacts and responsible practices in pet food.

Assess the nutritional needs of small mammals and pet birds, and support clients with species-appropriate feeding advice.
